Those two things don’t go together. Cheap and Good don’t go together when it comes to an attorney. If you want good, you must pay for it when it comes to that.
There is no such thing.
The best is not going to be the cheapest.
I know you have a problem, and no money, but you are asking the impossible.
Your local bar association has a lawyer referral service.
They’re in the phone book.
Make an appointment for a free consultation and see what you can work out.
You won’t have any luck if money is a concern.

Sometimes an expert is cheaper in the long run than the guy just starting out after law school, whose rates may be lower.
Do not look for “cheap”. A custody fight will be expensive. I would be very surprised if you could be represented through pre-trial efforts and through the trial for less than $10,000 or $15,000. It could be much, much more. That would not include representation through an appeal.
How important is the custody decision for the child’s future? If it is just for your ego or to “get back at” the other parent, the cost will not be worth it. If it is for the child’s benefit, it is worth every penny.
